Monitored Drug List
The monitored drug list shows all of the drugs that are monitored using ScriptCheckWA. System administrators can view the list, update a drug's Morphine-Equivalent Dose (MED), and add selected drugs to existing Drug Groups.

Search and filter the monitored drug list
From the Drugs menu, select Monitored Drug List.
The Monitored Drug List is displayed.
By default, the grid shows all of the monitored drugs in ScriptCheckWA, at the most granular level.
- Search for a drug: In the Search Drug List box, start typing a drug's generic name or brand name. The drug list is narrowed down as you type.
- Filter the drug list: Use the filters in the column headers to select or deselect the items you want to view.
Monitored drug list columns
Column | Description |

Date Added | The date the drug was added to the monitored drug list. |
Generic Name | The generic name of the drug. |
Brand | The brand name (trade name) of the drug. |
Strength | The strength of the individual drug entry. |
Pref Strength |
Preferred Strength, which is used to override the Strength column for multi-ingredient drugs. This is a user-editable field and needs to be a numeric value that matches the strength and units for the relevant ingredient in the medicine name. For example, if the medicine is “ibuprofen 200 mg + codeine phosphate hemihydrate 12.8 mg tablet, 30”, then the preferred strength should be “12.8”. If this value is incorrect, it will impact the behaviour of your Opioid Dose Threshold rule. |
UoM |
Unit of Measure, which is used in reports to clarify that units that are referred to in the Pref Strength column. This is a user-editable field and is free text. For example, if the medicine is “ibuprofen 200 mg + codeine phosphate hemihydrate 12.8 mg tablet, 30”, then the UoM could be either “mg” or “milligrams”. If this value is incorrect, it will make your reports confusing but won’t have any other effect on the system. |
Form | The form of the individual drug entry. |
MP | The AMT code for the drug's Medicinal Product. |
MPUU | The AMT code for the drug's Medicinal Product Unit of Use. |
MPP | The AMT code for the drug's Medicinal Product Pack. |
TP | The AMT code for the drug's Trade Product. |
TPUU | The AMT code for the drug's Trade Product Unit of Use. |
TPP | The AMT code for the drug's Trade Product Pack. |
CTPP | The AMT code for the drug's Containered Trade Product Pack, if available. |
PBS | The PBS code for the drug, if available. |
MF | The manufacturer code for the drug if available |
Group | Displays YES if the drug is in one or more drug groups. |
MED | Morphine-Equivalent Dose. This is a user-editable field. |
Update a drug's MED
Morphine-Equivalent Dose (MED) is currently the only drug property that is maintained manually by ScriptCheckWA. users.
Some of the rules that generate alerts on patients' medication events are based on MED. Take care to enter accurate MED values, in order to ensure alerts are generated correctly.
- From the Drugs menu, select Monitored Drug List.
- Use the Search control or the column filters to find the drug that needs to be updated.
- In the MED column, enter the new MED value.
- To apply the change, select Save.
Add drugs to an existing drug group
For details about creating a new drug group, see Drug Groups.
- From the Drugs menu, select Monitored Drug List.
- Use the Search control or the column filters to find the drugs you will add to the group.
- Select the checkbox to the left of the drug or drugs you want to add to the group.
- Select Add to Group.
The Add drugs to existing group window is displayed.
- Select the checkbox next to each of the drug groups you want to add the selected drug(s) to.
- Select Save.
The selected drug(s) are added to the selected group(s), and you are returned to the Monitored Drug List.
